about,

What You Can Do with This Tool

The Sphere & Dome Blueprint Generator calculates and visualizes exact voxel sphere and dome blueprints for Minecraft layer by layer. Enter any diameter to preview cross-sections, switch between hollow and filled shells, and view precise block and 64-item stack totals.

how to build,

How to Build

1

Choose the Diameter

Decide on your sphere or dome diameter. The usable interior width will be approximately diameter minus 2. For roofs, diameters between 15 and 31 are most practical.

2

Select Hollow or Filled

For buildings, roofs, and hollow structures, choose Hollow to save materials. Choose Filled for solid terrain or compact sculptures.

3

Start from Layer 0 (Bottom)

Layer 0 represents the lowest slice. Place a scaffold or base block, and lay out blocks matching the grid.

4

Verify Layer by Layer

Use the ghost display showing the layer below to verify alignment as you build upwards. Alignment errors amplify near the crown.

5

Prepare Materials by Stacks

Use the stack counter (64 items per stack) to gather the exact blocks you need in your inventory before starting.

How to Build Minecraft Dome Roofs

Using Hemisphere Mode & Choosing Diameters

When constructing observatory domes or palace cupolas, select 'Dome (Hemisphere)' to isolate the upper dome layers. Odd diameters feature a defined single apex block, whereas even diameters feature a flat 2x2 apex.

When working with glass blocks, build from the lower perimeter upwards while dismantling temporary scaffoldings, or use water buckets to navigate steep slopes safely.

Spheres as Stacks of Circles (Algorithm)

A 3D voxel sphere is mathematically composed of horizontal cross-sectional circles at each height z: (x + 0.5 - c)² + (y + 0.5 - c)² + (z + 0.5 - c)² ≤ r², where c = r = d / 2. Each layer z is a 2D disc of radius √(r² - (z + 0.5 - c)²). By stacking these circles vertically, a watertight 3D sphere is formed.

(x + 0.5 - c)² + (y + 0.5 - c)² + (z + 0.5 - c)² ≤ r²

FAQ

Q.What diameter looks best in Minecraft?
Due to voxel grid constraints, larger spheres look smoother. A diameter of 15 or higher produces a convincing circle, and 21 to 31 is ideal for prominent dome roofs.
Q.What is the difference between Hollow and Filled?
Hollow keeps only the outermost single-block shell (using 6-neighbor connectivity), creating an airtight and watertight surface. Filled packs every block inside the sphere volume.
Q.What happens with an even diameter?
An even diameter produces a central 2x2 block axis rather than a single center block. This is ideal if you are aligning with 2-block-wide hallways.
Q.How tall is a dome compared to its diameter?
A dome represents the upper hemisphere, so its height is roughly half the diameter (for odd diameters, (d+1)/2 layers; for even, d/2 layers).
Q.Can I save or export the blueprint?
Yes. You can use 'Copy ASCII Blueprint' to copy a text representation with # and . characters, or use 'Copy Share URL' to save and bookmark your exact parameters.
Q.Is this an official Minecraft tool?
No. This is an unofficial, community-made tool. It is not approved by, endorsed by, or affiliated with Mojang Synergies AB or Microsoft.
