It's very easy to use. Simply copy the IBAN you want to verify and paste it into the input area; the check is executed automatically. The tool automatically normalizes spaces, hyphens, and mixed-case strings entered into uppercase contiguous strings, so no prior formatting is required. If it's a valid IBAN, the country name, check digit, and bank code will be instantly broken down and displayed.

Q.Can this tool verify if the account exists or who owns it?

No, it cannot. This tool only performs 'Format Validation' of the IBAN structure and check digits. It cannot perform balance or name inquiries. Please use this to prevent input errors before transferring money.

Q.What is the difference between IBAN and BIC/SWIFT code?

An IBAN identifies a specific individual account, whereas a BIC (or SWIFT code) identifies the financial institution (bank or branch) itself. Both are usually required for international transfers.

Q.Is the entered account number safe? Is it saved on the server?

Yes, it is 100% safe. This tool performs all validation locally on your device (browser). The entered IBAN is never sent to or saved on our servers or external analytics tools.

IBAN (International Bank Account Number)

An account identification number of up to 34 digits devised to facilitate international bank transfers. It is primarily adopted in Europe and the Middle East, playing a crucial role in preventing errors and delays during cross-border transfers.

BBAN (Basic Bank Account Number)

The traditional basic bank account number used domestically in each country. It is the core part that makes up the IBAN, and within it, the individual bank code, branch code, and unique account number are arranged according to each country's own rules.

Check Digit

A 2-digit number added to the beginning of the IBAN (right after the country code) to mechanically detect input errors and typos. It is calculated using the ISO 7064 MOD 97-10 algorithm, preventing formal invalidity before a transfer.

SWIFT IBAN Registry

The official international registry of IBAN structures managed and published by the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT). It strictly defines the exact length of the IBAN for each country and the field positions within the BBAN (e.g., at which digit the bank code starts).
