Glossary
- kWh (Kilowatt-hour)
- Unit of electrical energy. Using a 1kW (1000W) appliance for one hour consumes 1 kWh. Electricity bills are charged based on this unit.
- Watt (W)
- Unit of electrical power. Represents the power consumption of an appliance. 1000W = 1kW.
- Standby Power
- Small amount of electricity consumed even when a device is turned off. TVs and game consoles can cost hundreds of dollars per year in standby power.
- Inverter
- Technology that controls motor speed. Inverter air conditioners adjust output as needed to reduce power consumption.
- Renewable Energy Surcharge
