About the Natal Chart Generator
The Natal Chart Generator is a free tool that automatically creates an accurate, circular birth chart when you provide your date, time, and location of birth. It accurately calculates the signs of important planets like the Sun and Moon, the Ascendant (ASC), Midheaven (MC), house cusps, and aspects (angles) between celestial bodies.
Whether you are a beginner or a professional astrologer, you can customize your chart by selecting from various house systems (such as Placidus) and choosing between Tropical and Sidereal zodiacs. The astronomical calculations are highly precise and comparable to NASA and JPL standards.
All of your sensitive information, such as your birth date and location, is processed entirely locally within your web browser. Nothing is sent to or saved on external servers, ensuring your complete privacy.
How to Create a Natal Chart
Enter Birth Data
Input your date, time, and place of birth (via city search or exact latitude/longitude), and set the appropriate timezone. If your exact birth time is unknown, simply check the "Time Unknown" box.
Configure Settings
Customize your calculation by selecting your preferred house system (such as Placidus or Koch) and your desired zodiac type (Tropical or Sidereal), then click the "Generate Chart" button.
Review & Save
Once calculated, your complete circular natal chart will appear alongside detailed tables showing planetary positions and aspects. You can save your horoscope as a PNG image or SVG file for your personal use.
Astrology Glossary
- Natal Chart (Birth Chart)
- A map of the sky showing the exact positions of the planets at the precise moment and location of a person's birth. In astrology, it acts as a cosmic blueprint used to understand a person's character, talents, and life themes.
- Houses and Cusps
- The astrological chart is divided into 12 sections called "houses," each representing different areas of life (such as career, relationships, and home). The starting boundary of each house is known as a "cusp." Different calculation methods, like Placidus or Koch, will divide the chart differently.
- Ascendant (ASC) & Midheaven (MC)
- The Ascendant is the zodiac degree intersecting the eastern horizon at the moment of birth, representing one's outward persona and first impressions. The Midheaven (MC) is the highest point on the ecliptic intersecting the meridian, symbolizing career, reputation, and life goals.
- Aspects and Orbs
- Aspects are specific geometric angles (e.g., 0°, 90°, 120°) formed between planets on the chart, indicating how their energies interact. Since alignments are rarely exact, an "orb" defines the allowable degree margin within which an aspect is still considered active.
- Tropical vs Sidereal Zodiac
- The Tropical zodiac, common in Western astrology, is tied to the seasons and fixes 0° Aries to the vernal equinox. The Sidereal zodiac aligns with the actual physical constellations and adjusts for the Earth's precession of the equinoxes (Ayanamsha), widely used in Vedic (Indian) astrology.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Q.What if I don't know my birth time?
- It is common to calculate the chart using "12:00 PM (Noon)" as an unknown time. By checking "Time Unknown", time-dependent data like the Ascendant (ASC), Midheaven (MC), exact Moon degrees, and house cusps will be excluded or marked as estimates.
- Q.What should I do if my birth city is not in the list?
- If your city is not found, you can look up its latitude and longitude on Google Maps and enter them manually. Selecting the correct timezone for that location will ensure accurate calculations.
- Q.How accurate are the astronomical calculations?
- This tool uses the highly precise Moshier ephemeris algorithm, matching NASA (JPL) standards with errors mostly within a few arc seconds. It provides planetary longitudes and house cusps comparable to professional astrology software.
- Q.Is my birth data saved on a server?
- No, it is never saved. All entered information is processed entirely within your device's browser (locally). No data is transmitted to external servers, ensuring complete privacy.
- Q.How does it handle historical Daylight Saving Time (DST)?
- The browser automatically detects and adjusts for most historical DST changes based on the selected timezone. For rare exceptions (like wartime DST), you can use the "Manual UTC Offset" feature to specify the exact time difference.
