Reaction Time Test
Click the moment it turns green from red!
Accurately measure your pure reaction speed in milliseconds.
This tool runs completely in your browser. Millisecond precision results and your interaction history are never sent to any server.
What is the Reaction Time Test?
The Reaction Time Test is a tool that accurately measures your visual reaction speed in milliseconds (ms) by testing how fast you can click (or tap) the moment the screen changes from red to green. You can use it for sports training, improving aim in games, or just killing some time.
This tool uses the browser's internal clock for measuring, and your results or interaction history are never sent to a server. It is completely safe and private, and you can use it as many times as you want.
How to Take the Test
Start the Test
Press "Click to Start" on the blue test pad, and the screen will turn red, meaning it is in standby mode.
Wait for Green
Focus and wait until the screen turns green. If you click while it is still red, it will count as a "false start (too early)" and you will have to try again.
Click Instantly
Quickly click the moment the screen turns green. By repeating this 5 times, your average reaction speed (in milliseconds) will be calculated.
Glossary of Reaction Time Terms
- Reaction Time
- The time difference from when the brain perceives a visual stimulus (in this tool, the color change of the screen) to when the fingers move. The average for humans is said to be around 200 to 250 milliseconds.
- Millisecond (ms)
- A unit of time representing 1/1000th of a second. "250ms" is equivalent to "0.25 seconds." It's an extremely important metric in e-sports and competitive gaming.
- False Start
- Clicking by predicting before the screen turns green. Because this tool is designed to measure accurate reflexes, if you make a false start, it is not recorded and you must try again.
- Visual Stimulus
- Information received through the eyes. A biological characteristic of humans is that reaction to sound (auditory stimulus) is slightly faster than reaction to light (visual stimulus).
- Aim
- The ability to target enemies in shooting games like FPS. Excellent aim requires high reflexes and quick mouse movements.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- Q.What is the average human reaction time?
- The average visual reaction time for an adult is around 200 to 250 milliseconds (0.2 to 0.25 seconds). Professional e-sports players and athletes can sometimes achieve incredible times like 150 to 180 milliseconds.
- Q.Is there a difference in scores between a smartphone and a PC?
- Yes, factors like your display's refresh rate (Hz), touch panel sampling rate, and mouse latency can introduce tens of milliseconds of difference. For the most accurate limit testing, a gaming monitor and a wired mouse are recommended.
- Q.Are my scores saved or sent to a server?
- No, this reaction time test runs entirely in your browser, and all measurements are processed on your device. Your results are never sent to a server or saved without your permission.
- Q.Can I click by predicting the color change?
- If you predict and click, it is no longer a pure 'see-and-react' measurement. Because of this, clicking before the screen turns green will result in a false start, and that try won't be counted.
- Q.How can I improve my reaction time?
- Getting enough sleep and removing brain fatigue are the most important factors. Studies also show that caffeine intake can temporarily improve reaction time. Regularly training with this tool can also help smooth out neural transmission.
Use Cases
🎮 E-sports & Gaming Warm-up
Perfect as a warm-up to activate the coordination between your fingers and brain before playing competitive games like FPS or fighting games.
🩺 Daily Condition Check
By testing at the same time every day, you can objectively gauge the drop in your reflexes caused by lack of sleep or fatigue, helping you manage your health.
💻 Device Latency Testing
When you buy a new mouse or monitor, you can compare scores with your previous devices to see how much hardware latency (input lag) has improved.
👥 Score Battles with Friends
Easily compete to see who has the fastest reaction time as a fun mini-game with colleagues during break time or at parties.
